Editing and Proofreading Service
Confidential, Professional, Affordable and a Must Before Publishing!

Editing and proofreading are essential parts of the writing process if you want your work to look professional. They enhance the clarity of your ideas and visions. Editing and proofreading involves much more than correcting spelling and fixing grammatical errors. There are several important things you need to check for when editing and proofreading a document.
As humans, we all make mistakes. Many authors feel they can self-edit their book. However, as an author and book editor, I know that self-editing a book is almost impossible. Writers are simply too close to their work to spot even the most elementary mistakes and inconsistencies because your writer's brain is writing what you are thinking. After writing, rewriting, and revising, the writer's brain easily misses typos, punctuation, and grammatical issues. This is precisely why every writer needs at least a second set of eyes to look over their work for even the most common mistakes.
No book is perfect, however hiring a professional editor to clean up the loose ends can help you get a lot closer. The goal here at WDP is to help ensure your copy presents as professionally as possible. If you are looking for an affordable, experienced editor and proofreader, WDP has you covered. Trusting WDP with your manuscript might seem like a big commitment, but so is publishing a book. Do you and your book a favor, make the investment, and get your book polished before it’s published.

Editing ServicesSubstantive Editing — Line editing is the most in-depth service I offer. In addition to fixing grammar errors, I work line by line to improve the style and flow, checking for run-on sentences and unnecessary/overused words, information redundancies, character inconsistencies, inconsistent phrasing and more. This level of editing is in-depth and may include rearranging sentences to improve readability. Line editing is where most authors should start.
Copyediting — Copyediting, is a semi-light form of editing that takes a sentence-level look at the project. With copyediting, I review your work and fix errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, ambiguity, and repetition. For Christian writers, I also check Bible verses to ensure they are correct and point out any potential legal liabilities we come across to help ensure your manuscript does not libel others. Proofreading — Proofreading is the final stage of editing. In proofreading, I look for the smaller things that have slipped through previous stages of editing, such as missing words, typos, punctuation errors, and spelling. I pay no attention to sentence structure, readability, or flow. Proofreading is for documents that have already been edited. If, while I am reviewing your work, and encounter multiple errors on every page, that's a good indication that copyediting is more appropriate. I will stop and reach out to you to discuss how to move forward. |
The completion time depends on my work schedule and the complexity of your work and does not include the time needed for author revision. To retain my editing service there is a 50% down payment (based on estimate) to reserve the block of time for your project due before editing begins. Once you complete the order form, I will send you an invoice. I value your work and your privacy. Your work is safe with me. I will not share, sell, or distribute any information or item you send me.
