Book Editing Services
Fast, Affordable and a Must Before Publishing!
As an author I know that writers are often too close to their work to proofread effectively and spot even the most elementary mistakes and inconsistencies. Hiring an experienced book editor is the best investment you can make for your book. Grammar errors come across as sloppy and unprofessional. If you are submitting your manuscript to a publisher or agent, or you are self-publishing a book you need a professional book editor who has eagle eyes to spot and correct errors in your book.
Every story deserves to be told. Let WDP help you tell yours
I want you and your work to shine. If your book contains garbled grammar and unrefined language readers will be turned-off and unimpressed. Your reputation as a writer will suffer. The goal here at WDP is to help ensure your copy presents as professional as possible. You retain complete creative control over your manuscript. I edit Microsoft Word documents using Track Changes, so all our changes are clearly visible. This allows you to accept, reject, or modify them. If you are looking for an affordable, experienced editor I've got you covered. I offer three types of editing: proofreading, copyediting and substantive editing (also known as developmental editing and comprehensive editing).
Proofreading is the final stage of editing before it goes to print. Proofreading should be done when your book is in its final form—in the environment in which your reader will read it. In proofreading, I look for the smaller things that have slipped through previous stages of editing such as language and formatting errors, missing words, typos, punctuation errors, spelling and formatting inconsistencies. You don’t want to be rewriting or shuffling sentences around at the proofreading stage as it will disturb the layout of your book. Because proofreading is done in the final stage before printing you will also want to add my formatting service.
With Copyediting I go the extra mile and check the content for factual errors, contradictions, and inconsistencies, and repetition as well as Bible verses to ensure they are correct, and I check for potential legal liability to help ensure your manuscript does not libel others. As well as checking your copy for spelling, capitalization, punctuation, verb tenses and grammatical errors, continuity, sentence structure, paragraph lengths, word choices, missed words, and the like.
Substantive editing is very different from copyediting in that it takes on topics such as pacing, plot, characterization, and setting. Does the pacing fit the storyline? Does one chapter flow into the next, building to a climax? Does the book have a cohesive beginning, middle, and end? Will the reader understand the plot and the point of the book? Substantive editing is so in depth it can lead to major changes in a book. It can sometimes verge on ghostwriting. But, in the end, it’s all worth it.
When I edit your book, I strive to be as thorough as possible and attempt to provide you with an edit that includes everything needed to get your book to read the way it should. I am honored to give you the opportunity to try out my editing style. Send me the first 5 pages or 1500 words or your book and I will edit it for FREE. If you like my work, hire me to it, if not it's ok.
The completion time depends on my work schedule and the complexity of your work and does not include the time needed for author revision. To retain my editing service there is a 50% down payment to reserve the block of time for your project due before editing begins. Once you complete the order form, I will send you an invoice. I value your work and your privacy. Your work is safe with me. I will not share, sell, or distribute any information or item you send me.
